With Monaco Blue as the leading 2013 fashion color chosen by Pantone, Summer Classics’ 2013 Denim outdoor fabric story is right on trend.
Pantone describes Monaco Blue is, “not a bright cobalt or sapphire blue, Monaco Blue falls somewhere in between with a shot of sparkle.”
And following that trend in the fashion and indoor furniture industries; the unique denim outdoor fabrics from Summer Classics incorporate the comfort, texture and coloring of denim along with patterned fabrics that compliment the line’s various shades of blue.
Though the pattern on these striking fabrics looks like denim, they are as soft and durable as any of our other outdoor fabrics. The Summer Classics 2013 Denim outdoor fabric story includes fabrics from Bella-Dura, Outdura and Sunbrella.
Fontaine Denim, replicates the vintage almost distressed visual texture of worn denim in a soft outdoor linen weave.
Fife Denim and Maverick Denim add a deep blue coloring and visual texture to the fabric story.
The blue and white pinstripes of Dockside Navy, compliment the coloring of the denim inspired fabrics.
The group also includes several other patterns with shades of blue and white.
The deep blues and movement of water inspired fashion designer, Charlotte Ronson, in her 2013 line,”Its fluidity, translucency, power and lightness; the ocean’s varied colors and some of the flora and fauna that thrive in it.”

The Monaco Blue influences in the 2013 Herve Leger collection by Max and Lubov Azria, were influenced by, “The book, The Quilts of Gee’s Bend that illustrates the intricate layers of a quilt from a quaint community in Alabama — their abstract visions of geometric patterns are seen in this collection”
The Summer Classics fabric team discuss inspirations from fashion trends and their current favorite patterns and colors when selecting the upcoming fabric line. Just like designers, they’re influenced by the world around them and people’s ever changing lifestyles.
More than half of the fabrics in the 2013 line are Summer Classics® exclusives, with a total of 90 exclusive fabrics, and 141 fabric introductions, and blues aren’t the only new outdoor fabrics that are on trend with Pantone and the indoor industry.
The detailed texture and bright green of Outdura’s Shimmer Pesto brings green into the fabric introductions. Bold fabric in reds, yellows, oranges and blues make a statement in outdoor living spaces with their captivating solids and patterns.
Fabrics made to look like a linen weave, but durable enough for the outdoors, are featured throughout the line in an array of colors. Neutrals with gray undertones round out the new outdoor fabrics in patterns and solids, and mix into color pallets for a classic look.
Classic Linen Natural, a Sunbrella® by Glen Raven fabric, is a versatile neutral with a linen styling.
Glendower, a Summer Classic Exclusive by Bella-Dura fabric, accentuates its neutral coloring with a geometric pattern.
