As the sun begins its descent across the sky and the workday grind winds to a close, you start the car and begin your journey back for the evening. Though the roads are crammed and the stress of the day burdens your shoulders, a beacon of hope stands off in the distance: The George at 42, also known as home sweet home where our Louisville team completed their latest condominium installation.
Inspired by the lifestyle of The Upper East Side, The George at 42 opened a little over a year ago after Underhill Associates LLC bought the high-rise condominium with the hopes of revamping the dreary vibe. After exploring and soaking in the elements of the New York habitat, the designers came home to Louisville, Kentucky with an eagerness to embed a similar feel into their hometown. The new condominium hosts several luxury amenities including a children’s play area, fitness center (complete with personal trainers, outdoor pool, and 24/7 security.
In April, the Summer Classics Louisville team was approached with the task of dawning the condominium’s outdoor space with a fresh, lavish, and durable design. Allison Carothers, owner and manager of Summer Classics Louisville, gave insight to the inspiration and process of this exciting project.
The George at 42 “is something kind of new for Louisville,” explained Carothers. “Since the designers had been to New York, we knew we wanted something out of the box that couldn’t be found anywhere else in Louisville.” The team decided on a clean and modern feel for the space by using the condominium’s navy and white color pallet. The installation was completed a few weeks ago and the outdoor space is prepared to take on the summer crowd.
Tall umbrellas now stand proudly over the Summer Classics Coast chaises, providing optimal shade coverage during toasty summer afternoons by the pool. Rich navy umbrellas create perfect contrast with the #4 natural teak finish and taupe batyline of the sunbeds. Topped with embroidered throw pillows, the “laid back” chaises create a relaxed sophistication.
When selecting pieces for the space, Carothers explained their desire for low maintenance pieces that could be easily cared for in such a high traffic area. “We wanted something cleanable and we knew that the Coast sling could be easily wiped with a Clorox” meaning that the chaises could stand the test of time even at a condominium.
A Bentley lounge area was also created to further the New York lifestyle inspiration while also keeping with low maintenance care. The Bentley collection features resin wicker and quick dry reticulated foam that forms a built-in cushion.
Next to the pool lies a large teak table, calling for a summer BBQ spread and comfortable conversation. Carothers explained the long table choice by adding, “most condos would have used multiple smaller tables; however, we wanted to create a communal living space.” By selecting the long teak table, The George at 42 is sure to encourage a family-style living space among its dwellers.
For Carothers, this project delivered a unique since it was for a business rather than a residential patio. The team at Summer Classics Louisville did an excellent job tying the lifestyle and dreams of The George at 42 into a seamless condominium installation that is sure to serve its residents well.
