What’s in the Water; Good or Bad?
Today we have options about the quality of water in our pools: chlorine, salt, and ionized. Each type has its unique benefits and inherent problems.
Most of us are familiar with chlorine pools, and their high maintenance care, as well as the harshness of chlorine on our skin and hair. However, chlorine water is less damaging to equipment and similar furnishings than salt content pools. Most furniture and landscaping materials are not affected by outdoor chlorinated pools.
Any Summer Classics outdoor collection can be placed around a chlorine pool. There’s no worry about your fabrics fading when you choose a Summer Classics exclusive fabric. The fabrics Summer Classics uses are specifically designed for outdoor use, and do not rot or fade.
If you have an indoor pool however, the heat and humidity in the enclosed space can make finishes peel, so we would advise choosing furniture designated with the Ocean logo. Plants and furnishings near indoor pools may at some time exhibit some stress.
There has been a trend in the last several years to convert or build new pools using saline treated water. The benefits are how gentle the saltwater is on our skin, and its low maintenance system. However, saltwater can be very corrosive to metal equipment, to surrounding metal furniture and stressful if near tender plants.
Summer Classics creates many fully-covered collections that are perfect for a salt water pool environment. These pieces are designated by our Ocean logo and are designed for harsh ocean front environments. These groups have the highest UV and salt spray resistance in the industry. Collections perfect for salt water environments include; Classic, Croquet Teak, Halo, Rustic, Sedona, Skye and Yacht. If you would like to know more about salt water pools, please contact a pool expert in your area.
Collections showing the Ocean logo are designed for harsh ocean front environments. These groups, like our marine grade teak collections, with mortise and tenon construction, and our fully woven collections have the highest UV and salt spray resistance in the industry. All resin products are hand woven over a rust-proof hand-welded aluminum frame; then finished with a heat adhered high quality polyester.
5 Year Warranty Collections:
A new trend using ionized water in pools has now developed. Water is treated with gentle minerals and electricity to eliminate the harsh effects of chlorine and salt. Ionized water appears to be soft to our skin and easy on our furniture and equipment. By using a chemical-free method, ionized pools are safe for any Summer Classics collection. Even indoor ionized pools will not harm your patio furniture. If you have more questions about ionized pools, please contact a pool expert in your area.
Summer Classics is not a pool manufacturer or installer. However, since we supply beautiful outdoor furnishings to many homeowners and hospitality venues, we feel that we should help educate our customers about the choices in water treatment and their effects. Please discuss your options thoroughly with your pool installer or supplier.
