Landscape Design Secrets to Creating Unique Entertaining Spaces

When beginning a design for clients, I like to start with a “laundry list” that includes their wants and needs for the garden. Whether their family is big or small, clients usually want to allow for some kind of outdoor entertaining. Weather permitting, a beautiful backyard is the perfect place to host friends. It is wonderful to be able to include different sized entertaining areas like an intimate courtyard for breakfast, a beautiful covered pergola with a fire pit for fall cocktails with friends, or a manicured lawn panel for large garden parties.

While these garden rooms can be exquisitely designed, they are only as good the outdoor furniture that fills them. I like to have sofas and chairs with comfortable cushions and lots of pillows around a fireplace. Be sure to select ample side tables and a coffee table for drinks and cocktails and maybe an ottoman or two for relaxing. It is essential to find the right outdoor dining table. There are many fabulous options ranging from a long farm table to a large round table.

And of course if you are fortunate enough to have a pool, you want ample comfortable furniture for family and guests to bask in the warm sun. It’s optimal to have both chaise lounges for soaking up the vitamin D and some chairs in the shade when it is hot hot hot outside.

But outdoor furniture does not stop with the living areas. A strategically placed bench or a few rocking chairs can create a focal point, drawing the eye out into the garden and enticing guests to explore while providing a place to sit and relax. Summer Classics has a wonderful selection of outdoor furniture that is perfect for your next soirée.
