Summer Classics and Gabby StyleMaker, Tamara Day has attracted national recognition as the host of Bargain Mansions, DIY Network’s hit program currently airing its second season.

With a credo “there’s no such thing as a home that is too big,” the energetic mother of 4 specializes in giving restoration to neglected homes. Garret McGee (roots in Texas and Tennessee), James DeSantis (New Yorker) and Melissa Brasier (a former Las Vegas entertainer) dramatically transform boring rooftops, messy backyards, and city courtyards into luxury outdoor retreats.

Coined “Two Wills and a Grace,” the trio met while at the Fashion Institute of Technology and give new meaning to the term “backyard envy”.

3. Property Brothers

This wildly popular home makeover TV show is celebrating its 13th season on HGTV. Featuring the enterprising and entertaining Scott Brothers (that would be Drew and Jonathan), the duo uses their expertise as a realtor and a contractor, they have been helping families renovate, sell, and purchase houses. Along the way, Summer Classics had the privilege of partnering with them on three episodes.

Based on the outdoor look they were going for during these episodes, they thought Summer Classics would be a perfect fit. Victoria Tonelli, senior art director for Property Brothers, explains, “Everywhere we go, we scout local furniture stores to incorporate in the home’s reveal. We always want to make all our reveals look very different, and Summer Classics Home in Nashville had just that.

4. Queer Eye

We all know that HGTV is a network dedicated solely for home and garden, but as you’ll notice other heavy hitters in the television biz are starting to cash in on the home makeover craze. Netflix is quickly becoming a hub for home decorating shows and Queer Eye is definitely a fan favorite.

For the Fab Five, a full lifestyle transformation includes:

  1. Grooming
  2. Style and Fashion
  3. Culture and Lifestyle
  4. Cooking and Nutrition
  5. Design

We all love a good overhaul, and lead interior designer, Bobby Berk delivers great design every time!

5. Buying it Blind

This Bravo show depicts six couples at a “purchasing breaking point,” who cannot compromise or make a major decision on the purchase of a home. To the rescue are Atlanta real estate agent Anna Kilinksi, contract Jen Metzger, and “Designer to the Stars” Michel Smith Boyd who serve as therapists, advisors, designers and problem solvers land their clients in their dream home… SIGHT UNSEEN!

After purchasing the home, the renovate and execute design (hopefully) to their satisfaction. While few of us would agree to this, it makes for compelling television. This show is still airing in its first season on Bravo, but talks are stirring to bring it back for a second season!
